Million Dollar Baby

I finally got to watch “Million Dollar Baby” last night.
The movie won a bunch of oscars this year, is directed by Clint Eastwood, features Clint himself, Hillary Swank and Morgan Freeman, and well everyone I know who has seen it has been constantly raving about how great it is.

So what did I think of it?
Well, of course it was great!
As in all Client Eastwood movies, he takes it easy and slow, giving time to develop the characters, enriching the story, engaging the viewers and letting them use their imaginations to further develop the story in their minds.

The story is a strong and moving one, and it tackles a number of interesting and touching issues.
It’s a drama about a hardened trainer/manager (Clint Eastwood) and his work and relationship with a determined woman (Hillary Swank) in her attempt to establish herself as a professional boxer.

You go through a number of different feelings throughout the movie, from excitement to happiness to hope to shock to sadness…etc, making it such a great and moving cinematic experience.

I really recommend this movie.
My score for it is: 8.5/10.

  1. If you’re into drama, this is really worth watching.
Check it out in the weekend and let me know what you think.

  3. I watched the movie a couple of weeks ago… it is a very nice and moving film, and Hilary Swank definitely deserved the Oscar for her performance, but for some reason, whenever people ask me what I thought of the movie, I just don’t feel that enthusiastic about it… I mean, I don’t say “Wow it was such a GREAT movie”, I would’ve given an Oscar to “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind”, it’s got more creativity and it triggers your mind more! I guess I like movies that reach those untapped spots of your mind!

  4. Rayhane, I agree that Clint’s movies get better with time. The more you think of the movie, the more you really like it.
And as for the extra 0.5 for Morgan Freeman, well he got an Oscar for his role in it, I don’t really think he’s waiting for my 0.5, loool…

Lina, I know what you mean.
I guess it’s a matter of taste. Some people enjoy certain genres more than others. And some, like me, enjoy all genres alike ๐Ÿ™‚

Nas, thanks for the link ๐Ÿ™‚
I’ll be checking it out asap. I’m quite a fan of Jon Stewart’s comedy.

Mira, I don’t know if you’re talking about downloading the movie or the video clip Nas linked to, anyway I hope you enjoy it ๐Ÿ™‚
