Star Academy LBC : And The Winner Is…

The last prime of Star Academy on LBC just ended, and after wrecking everyone’s nerves, the winner was announced.

The last 2 students left were Bashar El Shatti from Kuwait and Mohamed Attiah from Egypt.

And the winner of the first arab Star Academy was: MOHAMED ATTIAH !

I didn’t really follow the previous primes, so I don’t really don’t know the students well, but from today’s prime, I felt Bashar should have won, and most probably would have voted for him.
Anyway, I’m sure that if Attiah won, then he deserved it for some reason or another.

Congratulations to Mohamed Attiah, and congratulations to all the students for the great time they spent.

One thing is for sure, I’ll be watching every prime of the next Star Academy.

World Best 2004 : The Best of Star Academy

I just caught WorldBest on TF1, a competition for the best of the Star Academy winners from all over the world.

I didn’t catch it from the beginning so I can’t really judge who deserved to win or not, but from the people I saw (Argentina, Chile, Russia, France), Elodie from France was the best. She sang “S’il suffisait d’aimer” originally by Celine Dion.

Bruno from Star Academy Lebanon was one of the candidates too.

Lionel Richie was the guest of honor at the show. He sang “All Night Long” with 4 of the candidates, and then sang his new song “Just For You”, which I love.

In the end, Elodie (France) won, with a duo from Canada following in second place.

Bruno from Lebanon came in at second place from the end, with only a group from Germany with less points than him.

American Idol reject gets record deal

So, William Hung, the guy who became the laugh of the show at American Idol (American version of SuperStar, the singing talent show), has won a record deal.

This guy sucks like hell, but he sucks with passion, lol.
I’ve seen him singing “She Bangs” (orginally by Ricky Martin), and man is he something, lol.

Anyway, he has signed a deal with Fuse Music Network and Koch Records, and his first record called “The True Idol” will be released on April 6th.

I actually feel sorry for him because everyone laughed at him and made fun of his singing, but well at least that got him a record deal and now he’s making his dream come true, so it’s not that bad really.

Sticky Songs

These are some of the songs that are really sticking to me these days, I love them:

  • Turn Me On (Kevin Lyttle)
  • Shut Up (Black Eyes Peas)
  • Life for rent (Dido)
  • Love Profusion (Madonna)
  • Insani Ma Binsak (Diana Karazone)
  • Parce qu’on vien de loin (Corneille)

Everyday : Dave Matthews Band

Every now and then, I like to try music from some artist or group I don’t know or from a style I’m not really into, just for the sake of it.

And, last week, I was presented with a chance of this kind. Carrefour were getting rid of the CDs that weren’t getting sold by making them dirt cheap. I looked around and found the Dave Matthews Band album Everyday for sale for $1 only. So, i thought, what the hell, I’ll just get it.

I’ve heard of the Dave Matthews Band before, and have even heard bits and parts of their music on TV or in a soundtrack or elsewhere, but I never heard a full song or album by them.

So, I bought the album, threw into my car’s cd player and listened. I wasn’t in the mood for it that day, so after a few seconds, I simply turned it off.
Anyway, these past days, on my way to work and back, I’ve been playing it a lot, and I have to say, I really like it.
I don’t think it’ll make it into my favourite albums list, but still it’s got some really cool and enjoyable stuff on it, and I think it will stay on my playlist for a while.

UP!

Along with the albums on the sidebar under “Listening To”, I’ve also been listening to Shania Twain’s latest album UP!.

The album comes on two discs. Disc one known as the Red Disc has all the songs in their regular pop versions, while Disc two known as the Blue Disc has the same songs in their World / Rhythmic Sound mix versions.

I have to say that hearing the Red disc, i liked the album, but after hearing the Blue disc, i just loved it.

It’s got so many middle eastern and eastern sounds in it, it’s great.
My favourite song is UP!, although each and every song is beautiful and awesome.

This is one of Shania’s best pieces of work.
Rock on girl…

I hear the US version of the album has a Red & Green disc not a Blue disc. The Green disc has country versions of the songs.
I’m not really into country, but even if you are, you still have to get the Blue disc.

Corneille

As i mentioned before, the biggest discovery for me from the M6 Music Live concert last month was Corneille, a French RNB / Soul artist, who has a great voice and really beautiful music.

I bought his album “Parce Qu’On Vient De Loin” a few days ago, and i’ve been listening to it in the car these days, and it’s really cool.

He reminds me a lot of the kind of music that got me so into RNB & Soul back in the 90’s. It’s as if you put Silk, Shai, Blackstreet and Boyz II Men in a blender, mixed them, and then created one man with what you got out of that, and then switched the language to French instead of English, lol…

He’s actually the first true French RNB / Soul artist i’ve heard and liked.

In the concert he sang his hit song “Parce Qu’On Vient De Loin” and then a duet with Cheb Mami called “Du nord au Sud”, which is a very nice reggae like song.
And like all great artists, he’s so much better live than on recording.

I think he has a great future ahead of him and wish him a lot of luck ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope he keeps coming out with great music for my ears to enjoy ๐Ÿ™‚
