Chatango

While surfing through some new blogs, I came across this new service called Chatango.

It’s some sort of a chat thingie that bloggers can integrate into their blogs so that visitors can directly and privately have a live chat with them.

So, I’m trying it out. It’s on the right bar under the Quote.

So, if you’re on here, see that I’m online and you’re interested in a little chat, that’s the way to go ๐Ÿ™‚

Toy Story 3

Walt Disney Studios is actively proceeding with a second sequel to Pixar’s “Toy Story” franchise on their own.

Disney is in the process of setting up a digital animation facility in Glendale — not far from their bitter rivals DreamWorks Animation — that will be used for the production of “Toy Story 3.”

While Disney has the rights to do sequels to “Toy Story,” it has held off from doing so in the past because the guys at Pixar haven’t wanted to lose control of the characters.

But with Pixar announcing earlier this year that it would end its distribution relationship with Disney following the 2005 release of “Cars,” Disney have signaled their determination to bring Woody, Buzz Lightyear and the gang back to the big screen.

This totally sucks.
I already wrote about this before when it was just speculation and before the plans got under way and I still maintain my same position.

I just feel that without Pixar behind the wheel, this will be a miserable failure.
No one can produce that Pixar magic, not even Disney.
Plus Disney suck at sequels, their storywriters suck, and their 3D animations aren’t that good.

I think it’s a shame Disney are foolishly going to screw up something as great as Toy Story.

Google Scholar

Google have launched a new service called Google Scholar.

Google Scholar enables you to search specifically for scholarly literature, including peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, preprints, abstracts and technical reports from all broad areas of research.

Using it you’ll be able to find articles from a wide variety of academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories and universities, as well as scholarly articles available across the web.

Just as with Google Web Search, Google Scholar orders search results by how relevant they are to your query.

In short, Google simply rules search!

Jad Choueiri, Aaaarrrggghhh!

Anyone checking out the plethora of Arabic music channels, that keep popping up on every satellite frequency possible, and having the courage to go through the experience of watching some of the videos they play will most probably catch the name Jad Choueiri on their screen quite often.

Jad Choueiri is a Lebanese singer, producer and video director.
He and the people he’s working with are riding the wave of sexually crazed music and videos that are playing on Arabic music channels.
From Tina to Maria to his own material and others, this guy is the driving force behind the lowest music ever released in the Arab world.

Being a music fan who stops by Arabic music channels on his daily trip through the Vh1s, MTVs, Rotanas, Mazzikas and other satellite music channels, I have come to know his style very well.

In short, if the video has the singer looking at the camera like a cat in heat, showing their tongues a lot, breathing heavily, baring more skin than you’d usually expect and singing already bad lyrics like shit, then it’s most probably something Jad is associated to.

But, giving credit where credit is due, his style of directing is quite good if we forget about the sex obsession.
I think that if he focuses more on that and starts thinking more with his brain instead of some other part of his body, he could really produce some pretty nice music videos. Maybe.

As for singing, he should totally forget about it. His voice sucks like hell, and his lyrics are even worse.
I get ear cramps, if such a thing exists, whenever I catch a song of his on ๐Ÿ˜›

Ronalda McDonalds?

It seems McDonalds Japan have fired the dumb old clown Ronald McDonalds and brought in this chick instead.

She appears in the ad for a new burger they’re promoting there.

Check out the ad video here.
(Wait a little while for the video to load. It’s in WMV format btw.)

It’s about time someone dumped him. He’s been sticking to the same hairdo, makeup and clothes for decades now, lol…
Change is always good ๐Ÿ˜‰

Computers Make You Blind

We all know that prolonged computer use can cause RSI, back trouble, high blood pressure and steam to vent from both ears, but it appears that’s the least of our worries, because we’ll soon all be blind and that will be an end to it.

According to a Japanese study published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health, watching a computer screen for nine or more hours a day may contribute to the onset of glaucoma – a nasty disease which progressively damages the optic nerve and eventually leads to blindness.

The researchers – led by Dr Masayuki Tatemichi of Toho University School of Medicine – tested the eyesight of a total of 10,000 staff at four Japanese companies. They found that 522 of their guinea pigs demonstrated “visual field abnormalities” – aka “sight defects” to the man in the street.

The scientists reckon there is a significant link between these defects and heavy computer use by those who are also long or short-sighted. Furthermore, 165 of those demonstrating visual field abnormalities already showed signs of glaucoma – especially those suffering from short-sightedness.

The main conclusion of the study is: short-sighted heavy computer users are most at risk from developing glaucoma.

My main conclusion is: I’m doomed!

Margaret Hassan Believed To Be Killed

Margaret Hassan, a kidnapped aid worker in Iraq, was believed murdered after Al Jazeera television said last night it had received a video showing a hooded militant shooting a blindfolded woman in the head.

Hassan, Irish-born and with dual British and Iraqi nationality, was seized by gunmen on her way to work in western Baghdad early in the morning.

She headed CARE International’s operations in Iraq and had lived with her husband in the country for 30 years.

Hassan’s family in London said they believed she was the victim in the video, and British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw said analysis of the video showed Hassan has “probably been murdered”.

Hassan’s husband, Tahseen Ali Hassan, said he had heard of the video but did not know whether it was authentic.

This is just so wrong!
This has nothing to do with resistance.
This woman was a peaceful woman working in an aid organization trying to help the people of Iraq. In other words, she’s on the Iraqi side. Nothing justifies kidnapping and killing her.
These actions are stupid, barbaric and unacceptable. They must stop!

Writing A Short Story…

Last night, while watching Rocky 2 on Channel 2, I sat down with my laptop and started writing what I intended to be a blog post for today.

Anyway, as I started writing, ideas started popping up in my head, some old and some new, and I went on writing and writing.

So, I dumped the idea of writing a blog post and moved on to the thought of writing a short story. I don’t know if it’ll grow even more than that though. It all depends on the characters I’ve just started creating and what happens to them.

I’ve been toying with the thought of writing for a while now, and have had many ideas come and go, but there’s this one idea that I really like which I’ll be trying to work into what I’ve started writing now.

I hope I stick to it and carry it through to the end though.

My dear wife already got a sneak preview last night, and she seems to like it, so that’s encouraging.

Anyway, if I’m really happy with how it starts shaping out to be in the coming days, I might start posting some of it here for you guys to give me your feedback.
