The New Seven Wonders Of The World
The New 7 Wonders of the World were announced last night, July 7th 2007, during an Official Declaration ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal.
People from all over the world voted to choose the 7 wonders of the world from a list of 21 candidates, and the final results were as follows:
- Chichén Itzá, Mexico
- Christ Redeemer, Brazil
- The Great Wall, China
- Machu Picchu, Peru
- Petra, Jordan
- The Roman Colloseum, Italy
- The Taj Mahal, India
It's great to see that Petra made it into the list of the 7 wonders of the world.
Anyway, personally, I don't understand the need to make a list of only 7 wonders; I honestly think that every one of the entries on the 21 canidate list or the initial 77 nominee list is a true wonder of the world, representing our world's history and heritage, worthy of so much respect, care and importance.
Whether it's the Acropolis in Greece, the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, Al Hambra in Spain, Angkor in Cambodia or any other one of these amazing sites; they're all equally wonders to me.
