300

A friend of mine and I went to see 300 at the cinema yesterday. I've heard many mixed reviews about this movie, a lot of people loved it, and many others said it was a waste of time, void of meaning or purpose.
Curiosity pushed me to go and see it for myself and then build my own opinion on whether it's a good or bad movie.

I didn't go in expecting much, which is good, because I generally get a good surprise with the movie turning out better than I expected; The same held in this case.

I have to say that I ended up enjoying the movie; it's no great epic and it'll be forgotten in no time, but still it's an entertaining piece of action cinema. There's no deep story behind the movie, it's no actor's movie, and it crams in so many clichés you could barf, but still the action is really well done, the visual effects are great, and the soundtrack is pretty cool; so all in all it was good light entertainment.

If you're into action movies with a historical feel, and you've got no better movies to see, then this could be a good option to kill some time.

My overall score for this movie would be: 6.5/10 (even thought most of that is for the effects and the soundtrack).

Well, the movie is not about a deep story as you said but it is about how the visual effects techniques and industry is developing with this new hyper-real rendering technology used in the movie. I think you will enjoy the making-of the movie better.

Just a question for subzeroblue, have you watched the original version or the french dubbed one?

@Muh'd Mansour: Well, it doesn't really make it into my top movies, but well tastes differ in the most wonderful of ways.

@bestofmed: I watched the original version at the cinema in Jordan; and yep, the visual effects are the most interesting part of the movie, and I guess I'd enjoy seeing the making-of.
