The iPhone is actually a combination of three products—a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, searching and maps—into one small and lightweight handheld device.

The iPhone introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting users control iPhone with just their fingers.

A 3.5-inch widescreen display, iPod with touch controls, Video capabilities, Visual Voicemail, full QWERTY soft keyboard, 2 megapixel camera and a photo management application, rich HTML email client, advanced mobile web browser, EDGE and Wi-Fi wireless technologies, Google Maps based map application, built-in sensors (an accelerometer, a proximity sensor and an ambient light sensor) are just some of the many features this phone is packed with.

The iPhone will be available in the US in June 2007, Europe in late 2007, and Asia in 2008, in a 4GB model for $499 and an 8GB model for $599, and will work with either a PC or Mac.

I personally fell in love with this mobile phone, and might be getting one when it gets released around here, if the price is right of course, as it seems that the price gets blown up a couple of times on the way.

I respectfully disagree. I think this is a commercial mistake on Apple's part.

I go into a bit more detail on my blog at: http://lukecholerton.tigblog.org/post/86201.

I guess I always love to have a rant about Apple!!

Well I'm not so sure about that; I didn't think it was a really good idea when Apple wanted to get into the digital media player arena, but we've all seen how much of a success that turned out to be.

I think Apple has been able to build more buzz and excitement around it than ever before; whether its strategy and products keep the hype alive or kill it is really up to them and how good they make them.
