Paradise Now Wins Golden Globe

"Paradise Now" won the award for the Best Foreign Language Film category in the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, that were held on Monday.

The film was directed by Palestinian Hany Abu-Assad from a screenplay he cowrote with Bero Beyer, the film's Dutch producer, both of whom ascended to the podium to collect the award.

Paradise Now chronicles the 48 hours before two best friends in Nablus are sent on a suicide mission to Israel. The New York Times said it “accomplishes the tricky feat of humanising the suicide bombers depicted in the film”. The paper dubbed the film "a taut, ingeniously calculated thriller".

The film has also won the 2005 Berlinale Blau Engel Prize for Best European Film, as well as the Amnesty and Audience Prizes.

I can't wait to see this movie. I've been hearing so much about it ever since it's release, and all it's reviews have been great.

I watched the movie premiere in wash.dc, the audience was exceptional: jews with kippah and women with islamic hijab were laughing/crying at the same scenes, after the movie many gathered in a cafe in front of the theater, friendships were made, groups of jews and muslims/arabs were formed...it was amazing!
Let us know how the show went, and what are your impressions after you watch it!! (btw: there will be a one time projection?)
