The problem is that we don't have enough time to watch all of these good shows:) We are now thinking seriously of canceling our Orbit subscription as after the launch of these channels, having a satellite subscription is useless as we don't get anything special from it.

Yeah I know what you mean.
These channels are really going to annoy Orbit, Showtime and the other satellite subscription companies as their offers become less and less relevant.

These new channels are offering more and more for free, from movies to sitcoms to soap operas and reality tv (One TV, Channel 2, MBC4, Rotana Cinema) to cartoons (MBC3, Space Toon) to music (endless list of channels).

I think more and more people will start thinking like you and moving away from these bouquets.

Yeah, I strongly agree with Natasha. We also have Orbit but the only thing we ever watch on Orbit is ESPN, other than that, it's always 2 or 4 due to the fact that they only get Great stuff. Like the movies, yeah, sure, some of them are very old, but they're all so good I'm willing to watch them a million times... Orbit, on the other hand, gets all these really crap new movies that I can't even watch once...
I'm really impressed with the way MBC is handling things.

This is to Omar mahoud,MMM and all others who seem to be confused about getting the MBC4.Its very simple.As long as you can scan or rather search for channels with your decoder.All you need do is go to your MENU==>INSTALLATION==>then you'll scan to search for new channels.NOTE:You might also need to change the frequency so as to get access to other channels.If you do this well you 'll end up having far over 200 channels

Omar least i forget.Mbc has always being on Analog satelite.If you need to Know i reside in Dakar sengal and I use an Analog Arabsat.All you need do is try scaning for new channels at least every month.The more you scan the more you get new channels.Isn't that wonderfull.A friend once told me he scans everyday and he gets at least2 to 3 channels.The only problem is that we dont understand Arab.As you well Know most channels are Arab Owned.

thank you jabari washington.i live in kenya and here we use analogue receiver and C-BAND LNBF.there are only 24 analogue channels which are available on analogue arabsat 2C.currently there are 22 active channels including MBC2 and 2 empty channels with the test signal .lets pray when this two test signals become active one of them becomes MBC4.

Zimbabweans who want MBC here are the frequncies. 11785 V 27500 but you need to adjust your dish to 26 degrees east to be able to receive it. Alternatively you can try 12597 V 27500 all at FEC 3/4

in order to get mbc 2,3,4 and other ku channels on Badr guys u have to have 16ft solid dish. Alternatively use a 6ft solid one piece dish and you will get the channels cos i got them in Nakuru, Kenya

The EIRP in Somalia (Mogadishu) is 36 dBw. This leads us to the result that they should use 2.4 m antenna for clear sky, and 3m antenna with rain margin to receive ARABSAT bouquets on ARABSAT BADR-4 ..

Hello, Am Sam From Nairobi. I have a 6Ft dish and a FTA DBVB Decoder. I receive all channels on Arabsat at 26.2 Degrees East, but the Frequency that carries Dubai One never comes through. The most frustrating thing is that whenever i walk in the Arab shops their TV sets are always showing Dubai One. I wonder how they are getting it.

From what i know about TV signals, whatever that can be received in Addis Ababa, Mogadishu, Kampala, Burundi and the whole of East and Central Africa can also be receioved in Nairobi. I am therefore asking for help from all my brothers and sisters who live around Kenya, Uganda, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan etc.

I would also like to know how to receive MBC2-4, because the one i have is all Arabic.

What i like most on this satellite is Al Jazeera Sports, Dubai Sports and Riyadhia channels because they bring sports that i can only get on DSTV after paying $65!

Since my dish is on the ground, as opposed to being on the roof, i am able to juggle satellites and receive over 100 channels, but the most important are CNN, TV5 Monde Afrique (Which showed the whole of Rugby World Cup), 2Maroc, TV Algerie, France 24, RTBF etc, just by adjusting my dish a little bit!

I am also asking if it is possible to get the KU band signals from Arabsat from Nairobi/Kenya?

Any help will be highly appreciated.

TENDAI: Astra 2C' signal is too weak to give a picture.

I also have a multichoice decoder and it is not possible to watch any other channels apart from what they offer, because their decoder is locked, and controlled remotely by DSTV through software updates.

DAVID: As I said, I have seen Dubai One in shops, so am now looking on how to receive it too, but i will never invite those technicians, because the one who installed for me for the 1st time just ate a lot of money from me, just to position the satellite dish!

This goes to Sam, you seem to be a very adventurous guy! I like that. Try the following. There is some hard piece of plastic inside the LBNF called Dielectric, remove it and the outer plastic cover. Take back the LBNF and try manual search on 4120 H 27500. If it doesnt work, get in touch with me on Kw.david@yahoo.co.uk. For the Ku on badr4, nilesat101 & 102, the whole of east africa is not covered by the footprint. I would like to know the satellite name, direction the dish faces, the elevation of the dish, and the frequencies on which you are recieving CNN, Tv Monde Africuqe and others. You are one nice guy. The name of the satellite is NSS7 at 22 Degrees West. You can view the transponders at www.lyngsat.com/nss7.html

Myself i have never done physics beyong form 4, but after playing with my dish, i now consider myself a "Technician." I have so far fixed my neighbour's GTV and DSTV dish, thus depriving technicians of a cool 10,000 shillings because they cahrge 5,000 per installation!

Now David, to get CNN for free, go to the page mentioned above, All satellites which are on the Eastern Beam can be received on the whole of African continent!

CNN Frequency is 3931L (Horizontal) and the Symbol rate is 25000. I hope you know how to key in these details on your decoder. If you are receiving BadrC already, you need not change your dish position.

Just stand near your dish, face your WEST and make sure there is no obstacle between your dish and the horizon. To get CNN, you must have that Dielectric plastic between the LNBF. Move the dish westwards towards the Horizon, CNN will be received almost when the Dish will be facing the horizon! It shall be facing somewhere just above the horizon.

CNN is the strongest signal on this satellite, therefore it does not mean you will receive other stations. For me to receive TV5 Monde Afrique, there is a trick i learned on the job! Make sure the signal quality of CNN is over 63%. (At this point you will need another dielectric so that you now have two of them)

Push the first plastic to go into the LNBF fully, then use the second one to even push it further, but the second one will enter with the wedge side ( Shorter side) facing outside)

So now you will have two plastics inserted in the LNBF makin a one continuous big dielectric!

You will notice that your CNN signal is extra powerful, about 70%. Therefore what you have done is to boost the signal.

Now you can enter Frequency 3650 and symbol rate 275000. You will instantly receive TV5 Monde!

NB, When setting up the above process, you need to take notice of either Horizontal or Vertical frequencies,

You also need to know that the plastic in the LNBF functions in a certain way and you need to place it correctly, this can be done thru trial and error, since the LNBF has slots that guide the plastic. So you can put it one way, then if it does not work you place it the other way.

After some time, the above process is as easy as ABCD!!!!

Now am even better than the technician who charged me 7,000!

after getting TV5, you can also adjust your LNBF by moving it abour anticlockwise (Slightly) to strengthen the signal. TV5 Monde Afrique's signal is about 50% but from 39%, the picture is stable!

After doing that, then it means your decoder can get the signal from three satellites: NSS7, then move it uf a little and you will be on Atlantic Bird 3 at 7Degrees West, Then when it is almost facing the sky you will be receiving Badr C.

If you turn the dish east, then you will get all channels on Pas 10, then the Tanzanian and DRC channels, plus very many channels.

In act to get the EUEFA and SERIE A, BUNDESLIGA, ETC I never pay for that. I also do not pay DSTV even though they expet me to pay 5,000 per month just to access my favourite channel, CNN!!! Hu hu hu!

If you want to get the frequencies of any FTA, just do the following:

1. Go to google

2. Type in the channel you want, followed by the worl lyngsat, eg MBC2 "Lyngsat"

This will take you to a page where you see all on how to receive that channel, frequenncy, symbol rate, and the signal coverage maps

George, unfortunately I'm in the village for X-mass and I cant help you much. But you can in to Google search and type satellite name, follow the link with lyngsat for more details about frequency, elevation of your dish, and azimuth (found on the satracker of the lyngsat page of your satellite of choice) lets meet in feb 2008 through God's blessing
