30/10/05 : Episode 3 : Stage 2 : Future Arab SuperStar

The third and final episode from the second stage of Arab SuperStar on Future TV just ended.

At the end of the last episode, we had 40 contestants who were sure to pass and 10 that were left for the judges to decide about.

In the beginning of this episode, the judgement was announced that some of that group would pass and some others from other groups would be added to them, which makes the total number of candidates for the third round of the second stage 50 candidates, of whom only 20 should pass to the next stage.

The candidates were given a selection of 3 songs to choose from and perform alone on stage. The songs were:
- Law Ala Albi (Fadl Shaker)
- Wa Hyati Andak (Dhikra)
- Izz El Habayib (Saber El Rebai)

After all the contestants performed, came the judges’ choices for the people to pass to the next stage, and 21 candidates were chosen.

Now, I personally have to say that I disagree with the judges’ choices today. Some of the people who passed performed really badly, not today only but over the past episodes too, and some of the people who failed were really very good today and over the past episodes.
I don’t know why they chose to either pass the whole group or fail the whole group, which is very wrong and unfair to do.
I could only find myself thinking that maybe the selection was made to have the maximum number of nationalities in the next stage so that they’d get people voting from a maximum number of countries = More $$$ Money.

I’ve always agreed with almost 90% of the judges’ votes, but today I’m sorry to say that I don’t.

Anyway, starting next week, we’ll be getting into the third stage, in which contestants will be divided into 2 groups, males and females. And then the viewers get to vote who makes it to the finals.
Let’s hope the viewers make better choices and choose the good voices who made it.

I’m very frightened now by what you say, a lot of the better singers this year are men with a few exceptional women, I really hope my personal favourites do not get cut. :( Once again i digress that a Top 20 is REALLY bad for the entire alaam el arabiye!!

I think the judges touched a little on the different nationalities part last week and that they will still take them if they were good.

As far as today’s episode. I only thought a few could stay from those who left. But some of the ones they kept, I couldn’t even remember their performance. Maybe they’re just there to make it easier on the others to win :-P

3ammo, even though, the few you’re talking about are so much better than the ones who passed and didn’t deserve to.

Zlatkot, thanks for publishing the list of names who passed.
I was shocked too when some of the people who I thought would be finalists were let go. I think last night’s episode was unfair to them.

i think this year a tunisian go win the superstar.
but i disagree that there are many tunisianss.
maybe they have a good voice. but i dont have seen a syrian or a iraqi or. and this year there are a little bit egyptians. but i hope that there are all the countrys of the middle east….
but who know when Hady Aswad comes to superstar 3??

  6. 6 MMM Oct 31st, 2005 at 10:49 am

Well I really hope so fsafa :)
Anyway, I don’t see why you should disagree that there are many Tunisians?
The level of Tunisian participants was very high this year and they’re really good, so it’s only normal that a number of them make it this far.
Last year and the year before, most were from Lebanon and Syria.
It’s a talent show, and the countries shouldn’t matter, it’s the talent that counts.

That’s how I see it at least.
It’s a talent show, so let’s vote for whoever has the talent.

Yes it should always be about talent. :-D

O/T Did anyone see Brigitte’s new video before SS? She looks very good, it follows from the storyline of her last video La Oyounak Ma. :-)

Well if you guys didnt know from before, Hiba will not present the show past this stage and Ayman will be the only host for the next stages.

ey zlatkot who was your favorite arabsuperstar ever?? from superstar 1 and 2…
my choice iss HADy aswaed and melhem zain.. and yours:D:D

  16. 16 ZlatkoT Nov 5th, 2005 at 12:03 pm

I must say I think Super Star has had the best consistent talent of any Idol show, but Rouwayda has a special place in my heart she sang some very good songs, Diana was good but some of the songs were not as melodic. Melhem too! (Endak Bahriya still one of the best performances that season!)

Season 2 definitely Mohannad, but still far too many that were good. :D I cannot wait for the CD releases of everyone.
