Jimmy Carter Calls For Balanced Middle East Debate In US
[...]
Under AIPAC pressure, there are few significant countervailing voices in the public arena, and any balanced debate is still practically nonexistent in the U.S. Congress or among presidential hopefuls

The American friends of Israel who demand such subservience are in many cases sincere and well-intentioned people, but on this crucial issue, they are tragically mistaken. Their demands subvert America's ability to bring the Israelis what they most desperately need and want — peace and security within recognized borders."

As I probably remarked before, he typed senilely, those Crusader states would've lasted longer but for their opinionated, bigoted European cousins, always stirring things up. Typically the local barons and their Muslim neighbors would reach workable compromises regarding trade and mutual security, then in would come thundering the cousins--usually French--armed to the teeth, calling their hosts cowards and looking for trouble. Which they inevitably found.
American Jews, either resident in Israel or back in the States, are among the most fanatical advocates of Israeli manifest destiny. On the topic of Arabs of any ilk, American Jews often sound eerily like German Nazis talking about the Jews who were the Americans' grandparents.
Extermination isn't mentioned, but rather "resettlement." Indeed, a de facto resettlement policy has been in effect since 1948 and the result is clear, isn't it? Of course, there are voices of moderation, but they're scattered and in the minority. Most of those voices don't or no longer speak from Israel.
