Divide And Conquer
[...]
Part of a conquer and divide strategy is timing. Why did Israel wait until this moment to consider Mahmoud Abbas a “partner committed to peace” when his positions have hardly changed since his election over two years ago? Why is Israel only now considering freeing Marwan al-Barghouthi, a convicted Fatah activist? Why only now release the frozen government taxes ($570 million) that the Palestinians have desperately needed since Israel started withholding them in March of last year?
-- Philip Rizk, The desecration of democracy (Electronic Intifada)
This has been clearly obvious since the very beginning of the whole Palestinian election drama; The Palestinian factions just played right into the Israeli/US trap like dumb pre-programmed robots.
If the Palestinian leaders just stopped and thought about what's really best for the Palestinian people instead of what's best for this or that faction, all this would have never happened.
The way it stands now, Fatah and Hamas are just accomplices in this dirty game against the Palestinian people; executants, puppets who have done nothing but worsen the already sorry state of Palestinians.
