Brands Of The Year 2003C'est bizarre que mecca cola soit considéré comme entreprise tunisienne alors que tewfik mathlouthi vit en exil depuis un moment .
Posted by: x at October 23, 2006 10:24 PMMecca Cola is the only tunisian firm even unknown in Tunisia !!! I don't see any Air Campany. I don't find Saudian Petrole Aramco
Posted by: Mohamed Ali at October 25, 2006 01:10 AMRotana strikes me as way too low on that list - should certainly be top 10, maybe top 5. Otherwise, it's pretty hard to tell, especially with the consumer brands, what's really big everywhere in the region.
Posted by: Tom Scudder at October 26, 2006 01:15 PMAmericana is a food chain very well known in Gulf states. Despite the name, it's an arabian business.
I also find it quite bizarre that Mecca Cola is regarded as "Tunisia", the product does not even sell in Tunisia! Tewfik Al Mathlouthi is French, living in France and Mecca Cola is incorporated in Dubai, UAE.
Saudi Aramco are maybe the largest company in the region, but they do nearly nothing to promote their _brand_. Aramco is known in Saudi Arabia as a big employer or a national pride but not as a consumer brand, it's almost unknown outside of Saudi Arabia.
