After the 12th Tunisian Blogger Meetup

We got back from the 12th Tunisian blogger meetup a while ago, and what a meetup it was.

This meetup marks a year since we've been holding blogger meetups in Tunisia, and what a long way we've come ever since that first meetup that I organized, not knowing what to expect, and never dreaming that it would become such an anticipated monthly event, with different people eager to get involved with the organization every time.
When I look back on it all, it makes me so proud and so happy that I took that initial step.

Today's meetup broke the record in the number of bloggers present with around 35 bloggers showing up, and the number of new faces exceeding old ones.
We actually took over a whole part of the café. We joked that the next time we'll need to hold the meetup in a stadium or something, and I'm not too sure that we won't eventually get there sooner than we think.

The meetup started out with us trying to get settled down and organized, especially with the large number of people there. And once we got seated and all, it was mostly the old bloggers on one side and the new ones on the other, which made things feel a bit awkward. But then we started getting up and moving around, changing places and mingling, and everyone got involved and it turned out really fun.

A number of times we've thought of meetups as a way to talk about blogging in Tunisia a bit more seriously, but I'm starting to think that it's impossible, and not really the place for it. Our meetups are more of a social event, where bloggers meet, mingle and talk about all sorts of things, more like a group of friends would do. And I think that's a really great thing.

I'm also very happy to see that different people are stepping forward each time and proposing to organize the event. It makes me confident that the idea will live on and that there will be a monthly blogger meetup no matter what and even if I'm not available or unable to organize or attend.
