Meebo, An Ajax-based Instant Messenger

I just came across Meebo, which is a browser-based IM client built using Ajax.

Meebo is sort of like Trillian, but inside the browser window. It integrates a user’s accounts from AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger, and ICQ into a single buddy list that is automatically populated upon signing into the Meebo web site.

It's still in alpha phase, but through my testing of it, everything seemed to work pretty well. it's really promising.

I love how Ajax is making web development exciting all over again, how it's opening new doors for usability and making the browser a more powerful and essential tool in our lives.

On a different note, is it possible to get rid of Windows? I want an open source operating system, but will I face any problems, and what problems I will avoid in using other operating systems?

Saqf, that is one big question, lol...
Well, with you being a designer, your work revolves around design programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, ...etc. that you can't live without.

So that limits you to only two OS options, either Windows or Mac OS.
And I think you can actually run Mac OS X on your pc, here's a link on it in Wired Magazine:
http://www.wired.com/news/mac/0,2125,68501,00.html?tw=wn_tophead_2

And a link to the project page:
http://osx86project.org/

Linux is a good OS, but the design tools on it are not good enough and unless you can run your programs on it through emulators, you can't keep working smoothly.

Hope I was of help.
