Kingdom Of Heaven

Last night we went to Century Cinema again and we saw Kingdom Of Heaven, a Ridley Scott movie featuring Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson, Ghassan Massoud, Jeremy Irons...etc.

I heard and read a lot of positive reviews about this movie before seeing it, and I was really looking forward to it.
I was not dissapointed at all. It was a great movie.

The movie tells the story of Balian, a former blacksmith turned knight, and how he ended up defending Jerusalem during the Muslim siege of the city in the late 12th century.

Even though there are some small historical inaccuracies here and there, it was a pretty good movie all in all.
Plus, it's good to see a hollywood movie giving a positive perspective of muslims.

Orlando Bloom does a really good job. After his roles in Lord Of The Rings, Troy and Kingdom Of Heaven, he seems set to becoming one of Hollywood's A-class actors.

My score for this movie would be: 8.5/10.

Kingdom of Heaven was very Hollywoodish for me. Although Scott Ridley did a great job depicting the Muslims as kind, civilized and well-mannered people, all of which are historically accurate, he did very poorly depicting the geographical as well as the historical facts in making his movie. First of all there are no deserts or sand dunes in the land of Palestine. Secondly S. Ridley decided not to show the disturbing historical fact that the crusaders turned the Al Aqsa Mosque into a horse stable. For those of you who live outside the US, the movie didn’t do any improvement to the image of the Muslims in the US, as it didn’t change the public opinion about the “bad stuff” they show in the media. Please people don’t be fooled by all this propaganda in the Arab world about KOH being the movie of the century. The sad fact is that the movie is playing in movie theaters almost unnoticeable and that is of course due to the poor advertising, due to the limited budget? Hmmm, I wonder…
I understand why most people in the Arab countries got excited about this movie. No the movie didn’t get us a presence in Hollywood yet. I honestly didn't enjoy KOH that much for other reasons as well. I do normally enjoy movies like that but I just can't place my finger on why I didn't like it.
