Movie Roundup

It’s been a while since I blogged about the movies I’ve seen. It doesn’t mean I haven’t been seeing any, you know that’s impossible, I just haven’t been writing about it.

So here is a list of the movies I’ve seen lately:

– Cellular
– Shall We Dance?
– Taking Lives
– The Door In The Floor
– The Punisher
– Surviving Christmas

And now here’s a little review of each one…

Cellular:
Featuring: Kim Basinger, Chris Evans and William Macy.
A friend already told me about this movie and so I had an idea of the story when I rented it. It’s a crime, thriller movie and even though the idea is pretty good, I think they could have made a better movie out it.
I’m not saying this movie is bad, it’s pretty good, but it could have been better and could have had us on the edge like “Phone Booth” did.
Score: 6/10.

Shall We Dance?:
Featuring: Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez and Susan Sarandon.
This turned out a lot better than I expected. It was actually a really nice movie.
A romantic comedy about a bored, overworked Estate Lawyer, who upon first sight of a beautiful instructor, signs up for ballroom dancing lessons.
I thought it’d be cheesy, but it wasn’t.
Score: 7/10.

Taking Lives:
Featuring: Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke, Kiefer Sutherland and Olivier Martinez.
Another thriller that could have been made better. An FBI profiler is called in by French Canadian police to catch a serial killer who takes on the identity of each new victim. The problem is that it’s easy to guess who the killer is. Anyway it does have a few good scares and Angelina has a topless scene, so guys will like it ๐Ÿ˜‰
Score: 7/10.

The Door In The Floor:
Featuring: Kim Basinger and Jeff Bridges.
Well, I don’t know what to say. I don’t want to go as far as saying that it sucks so I’ll just say that I didn’t like it.
The story didn’t do anything for me and I felt it was a waste of time.
Score: 3/10.

The Punisher:
Featuring: Thomas Jane and John Travolta.
Another Marvel comics based action movie. I love movies that are taken from comics, and this didn’t let me down.
Although not as good as Spiderman or anything, this is still a pretty good movie to watch.
Score: 8/10.

Surviving Christmas:
Featuring: Ben Affleck, Christina Applegate and James Gandolfini.
A friend told me this sucked but yet I rented it. Did I regret it? Not really. It’s an ok movie actually. Not something I’d watch again, but ok for one time viewing.
It’s a romantic comedy about a lonely, obnoxious young millionaire who pays a family to spend Christmas with him.
Score: 6/10.
