Changing Stuff

For some time now I’ve been playing around with different elements in Subzero Blue, and I still plan to go on changing things (to the better, I hope).

Some of you have noticed the changes, some of you haven’t.
So just in case you’re among the people who haven’t, here’s what’s changed.

– I’ve added an About page with some info about me and the site. And for those who are interested, a picture of me.

– I’ve moved some main navigational elements to a new horizontal menu that I’ve created beneath the header.

– I’ve added the 5 most recent comments to the sidebar.

– I’ve added 4 random pictures pulled from my photolog to the sidebar.

– I’ve moved the Linklog to the sidebar and migrated it to a faster script.

– I’ve added a footer for the site and moved the information I feel belongs there to it.

– I’ve been playing around with some design elements here and there.

– I’ve been experimenting with some text ads and where to place them without annoying the readers. So, soon you’ll be seeing less ads in better places.

If you have any feedback or any suggestions, please do not hesitate to share them with me. I’d love to hear your ideas.

  1. Happy you guys like the changes ๐Ÿ™‚

And Roba, I didn’t get what you mean exactly by “sidebars get really annoying”. Do you mean my site’s sidebar is good or bad? lol

  2. Hey MMM,

The site does look really good. Natasha and I are always keen to see what you’ll come up with next ๐Ÿ˜‰

The design is very clean with good amounts of white space. I think Roba means you’ve cleaned up the sidebar and it looks nice. It’s not as heavy as say Mental Mayhem’s has become over time — and that’s good!

I will say that we sometimes run into a weird bug with the Google adsense stuff on Firefox. It flicks, for lack of a better term, not completely seating below the first post. It’ll pop up over the post then flick back to where it belongs really quickly multiple times then finally settle down. Not sure why.

But the site looks great. Best of luck with the Weblog Awards, though I must say after the BABA situation we are pretty much ‘over’ any more award participation ourselves.

  3. Hi Jeff,

    Thanks ๐Ÿ™‚ That’s nice to hear ๐Ÿ™‚
Happy to know you guys like what I’ve been doing with this.

And yeah, I’ve run into the ad flickering thingie too. I haven’t found a solution for it quite yet though.

Thank you for wishing me luck for the Bloggies.
I think the Bloggies and the BOB’s are the only blog awards that hold some credibility, and the Bloggies are more famous and popular.

As for the BABA awards, well I think this year was a good lesson and that hopefully next year all that happened will be taken into consideration to make a better awards competition.
