At War With Islam...
"It is time we admitted that we are not at war with "terrorism." We are at war with Islam. This is not to say that we are at war with all Muslims, but we are absolutely at war with the vision of life that is prescribed to all Muslims in the Koran. The only reason Muslim fundamentalism is a threat to us is because the fundamentals of Islam are a threat to us. Every American should read the Koran and discover the relentlessness with which non-Muslims are vilified in its pages. The idea that Islam is a "peaceful religion hijacked by extremists" is a dangerous fantasy — and it is now a particularly dangerous fantasy for Muslims to indulge."Sam Harris, the author of "The End of Faith: Religion, Terror, and the Future of Reason." and columnist for the Washington Times.
So it's a war with Islam but not with all Muslims?!
It's a war with the vision of life that the Koran prescribes to all muslims?
And what vision is that?
What fundamentals of Islam are a threat to Americans or any other non-muslims?
This is all crap and lies.
I too urge everyone to read the Koran or a decent translation of it and discover themselves how many lies people like this spread about Islam without having any clue.

Practicing Islam in Space"At with with Islam but not with all Muslims"!!! Totally senseless! How on earth can you be at war with a faith, or a way of life as he puts it, and not be at war with the people who believe in it, and adopted it as their way of life!!! Too sad people with such mentalities are ruling our world. And what kills even more, when one of these starts giving the world a lecture about "democracy", "human rights", etc. Hypocracy at its worst stage!!
Posted by: Firas at December 7, 2004 04:40 PMThat guy's such a loon. It's a shame someone might actually believe what he says. Hopefully people will do exactly what he says: read the Qur'an and see for themselves.
Posted by: Jordan at December 9, 2004 12:51 PMAs an infidel I am offended by the words in the Quran about non-Mulims. I am also offended by certain accounts regarding the life of Mohammed in the Hadiths. If he is an 'example' then we have problems.
Until Muslims recognize the hate and anger in their own writings, there can be no hope for Islam. Please do not insult my intelligence with words like "out of context" or "good translation".
That is the way it is. I sometimes wonder if Muslim have actually read their scriptures. Most Muslims are not terrorists or evil - much to the contrary. They are, however, in denial. That is why they cannot change Islam, and that is why things will get worse.

Posted by: John at December 31, 2005 03:59 PMHi John,
I understand how you could see some verses in the Quran as offending to you.
But, there's something that everyone must understand, including Muslims, it's that some verses of the Quran were really tied into the time, situations and circumstances of muslims in that era. A lot of the verses came to tell muslims how to deal with certain events or certain situations they were put in. Back then, the number of muslims was small, and for no reason other than them following a new religion instead of worshipping stones, they were being attacked time after time and a war after war was waged against them. And so naturally the Quran told muslims at that time how to react to these attacks and how to deal with these people to put an end to war and bring about a peace, that would enable muslims to practice their religion and try to spread it.
What I'm saying is that it's no use to read the Quran without understanding the events that were going on in parallel to those verses and knowing what problem each verse came to solve.
Many of those verses don't apply to today's circumstances, and some others do. That's why I wrote the following post:

Larry. I feel sorry for you. You're a lost SHEEP. Bahhhh.
Only hypocrits like you can spread the "darkness" you see within the Islam religion. That's too bad. I think most people understand that the Christians have raped, be-headed and TERRORISED the world themselves within history.
I am not a Muslim. I am a white person who believes in human rights and it is the right of every human to practice religion...Islam, Christian, Prodistant etc... It's the extremists (that includes Christians) who judge and rip apart other religions. That my friend is the "darkness".
Posted by: Anti-Hate at November 11, 2006 01:36 AMTell my o wise Islamic sage. How many times does the word "peace" appear in your holy book and then tell me what the context is. It won't take you as long to answer my question as it did for me to post it!
