GMail Pops The Email

Over the next several weeks, Google will be introducing POP access to GMail users.

This means that GMail users will be able to download their emails from Gmail's servers onto their own computers so they can access them anytime with a program like Microsoft Outlook Express or Netscape Mail, even when they aren’t connected to the Internet.

It's a real cool feature for a lot of people I'm sure, although I'm not so sure I'll be using it.

The whole point behind me using Gmail is to have a big mailbox online where I can have all the emails I might need to access from places other than home.

For other stuff I want downloaded to my email client, basically any pop email account does the job.

I wonder though, will the emails be processed and text ads added into their bodies before download so that people get the ads in their email client inboxes? or are the guys at Google generous enough to pass on ads for people who pop their emails?

That's good news! Thanks MMM for drawing our attention to this development.
