Tunisia Delays Arab Summit

Tunisia has delayed the Arab Summit that was due to start tomorrow morning in the capital Tunis.

The reasons of the delay are the big differences between Arab countries on the issues of reform, both for the Arab League as well as the Arab countries themselves, and the issue of peace in the Middle East.

Egypt is now trying to organize a summit in Cairo after 10 days, but Tunisia is holding on to its right to host the summit.

I totally agree with the Tunisian decision. This summit is about change; it’s about moving into the future and taking powerful decisions.
There’s no point in just going on with the summit when there still are core differences between the countries. Doing so would result in more useless decisions and more waste of time.

I think talks and discussions should go on until good solutions and formulas are reached and that then a summit can take place to finalize the decisions and put them into action.

We don’t need summit after summit producing more and more useless decisions, we need a summit that produces strong effective decisions that will make a change for all Arabs.

I really don't understand why were people so upset when they heard the summit was delayed. What's the importance of having it held on time when the results will be useless. I guess it's always better to agree on the highlights first, disagreements happen all the time, it's normal, but when we're talking about core differences then having the summit delayed is wise. And I guess Egypt shouldn't have rushed in suggesting to host a summit, because Tunisia's decision was to delay and not to cancel the summit.
Anyway, and whatever the real reason was, I just hope this summit will be successful and improve life in the Arab countries.

There's this saying every Arab knows by heart: "Arabs have agreed to never agree !".

I think that sums it all...
